The Keynsham & Saltford Local History Society hopes to re-erect the “Abbot’s Seat” that was washed away from the County Bridge during the 1968 flood. There is no reminder of that event or any memorial to those who lost their lives when their car was swept off the Chew Bridge . It is proposed that the stone and a plaque will be set up in Keynsham’s Memorial Park in time for the 50th anniversary of the flood on 10th July 2018. Anyone wishing to contribute can download the donation form from the group’s website at www.keysalthist.org.uk/Flood.htm.
