12th Dec – Bath Abbey Footprint Project Update – Cai Mason, Wessex Archaeology

Following on from his lecture last year, Cai Mason will give us a further update on discoveries at Bath Abbey as the Footprint project progresses.

9th Jan 2020 – Aerial photography : Techniques and Recent Finds – Simon Crutchley, Historic England

Summer 2018 (and we hope 2019 !) was an exceptional year for aerial archaeology when Historic England and others made many significant discoveries during the dry weather.

13 Feb — AGM / Members Projects

The Annual General Meeting of the Society will take place at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution on Thursday 13 February 2019, and will be preceded by presentations of society and members’ projects.

12 March – Gaining World Heritage Status – Professor Barry Gilbertson, Chair, The City of Bath UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Professor Gilbertson will discuss how Bath’s Inscription on the world list in 1987 makes it one of only two cities in Europe with a citywide World Heritage Site designation and why this is so valuable to Bath’s future.

All talks are at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution, 16 Queen Square, Bath, BA1 2HN.  Admission charge of £4 for members (on display of a current BACAS membership card), and £5 for the general public. Pay on the door.
