Summary
Newton Park at Newton St Loe, near Bath is currently the idyllic setting for the main Bath Spa University campus. The campus is based in grounds landscaped by Capability Brown on land leased from the Duchy of Cornwall and includes features from a mixture of ages.
The Grade I Listed Main House built between 1762 and 1765, the remnants of the 14th C Newton St Loe Castle (also Grade I) and several other Grade 2 and 2* Listed stable buildings, gardens and walled gardens with a lake, nature reserve, woodlands and arable working farms.
The BACAS Geophysics team have spent two seasons on the campus and look forward to establishing a close working relationship with the University.
Dr Cassie Newland, our guide, is currently Senior Lecturer in Heritage and Public History at Bath Spa University. She has been a regular contributor to the Time Team, Coast, Impossible Engineering, Impossible Railways (UKTV) and Time Crashers (C4). Cassie also lectures and writes on the archaeology of telecommunications!
Meeting time and place.
6.30pm start at the free car park at the far end of the driveway through the campus – approximately half a mile from the entrance Lodge (near The Globe Inn)!

In view of the topography, including steep paths and steps sturdy footwear is advised.
