We were pleased to be at this event organised by Bristol Museums on Saturday 16th September. As it was at Bristol we took the opportunity of showing off the display from Stanton Drew that was presented at Stukeley 300. The rain held off, and lots of people came out to visit us and all the other people at all the stalls there with archaeological societies, companies, museums and the Young Archaeologists’ Club as well as be entertained with Roman, Viking and Norman military reenactments and music from the Bristol Waites.
Stanton Drew made an attractive topic for our stall, from describing the impressive series of work, through to promoting it to children and their families as their own local stone circles. We also had copies of our reports and Camertonias and information on our current and future activities. Several of our leaflets were taken so we will hopefully attract some new people interested in joining us.
We were also able to stand out as being BACAS with our brand-new waterproof banner (see pictures) and our hi-vis jackets. Many thanks go to John Richards, Bridget Hetzel, Marek Lewcun, Sharn Pepperell and John Samways for helping during the day at the stall.
It was a good day!
