BACAS again has a full range of excursions planned for this year with everything from prehistoric marshes to medieval priories and castles. Ticket booking is available online by card from the link to Ticketlab below.

Please book required tickets for BACAS members and non-members. You will be asked to enter name and email before providing credit/debit card details. Your tickets will then be emailed to you.

If you can, please make arrangements for car-sharing.

Three Somerset Churches :  Wednesday 17th April (Afternoon)

Another trio of wonderful village churches, this time Laverton, Lullington and Beckington hopefully followed by a cup of tea.

Hinton Priory : Saturday 11th May (Afternoon)

A guided visit to the remains of Hinton Priory, a Carthusian monastery from 1232 to its dissolution in 1539 along with its Friary, the residence of the lay brothers.

Tretower Castle and Court : Thursday 20th June (All Day)

A guided tour of this wonderful group of medieval buildings that began as an earthen motte castle around 1100 and was later upgraded with a massive shell keep and in the 15th century by a semi-fortified fine courtyard house.

Taunton Town and Museum  :  Thursday 11th July (All Day)

A guided tour of historic Taunton town followed in the afternoon with a tour of the collections in the Museum of Somerset, reorganised and reopened in 2011 in the former 12th century Great Hall of the Castle.

Castle Cary Town and Museum  : Thursday 15th August (All Day)

Castle Cary began life in Norman times with a castle to then grow in importance and gain its market charter in 1468 from Edward V. We will be taken on a guided tour of the historic parts of the town which will be followed by a visit to the Museum.

Avalon Marshes Centre :  Thursday 11th September (All Day)

A morning tour of the Avalon Marshes Centre to see wildlife exhibits and various reconstructions of ancient buildings followed by the opportunity to visit the prehistoric Sweet Track and other local attractions.
