We are committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation 2018).
We’ll always act upon your choice of how you want to receive communications (for example, by email, post or phone). However, there are some communications that we need to send. These are essential to fulfil our promises to you as a member. Examples are:
- Transaction messaging, such as Direct Debit schedules, membership purchase confirmations, donation confirmations, or processing a grant payment for a project.
- Membership-related mailings such as renewal reminders and newsletters and copies of Camertonia, or any other obligations arising from your membership subscription
If you consent, we may use your information for other purposes, for example:
- provide you with details of meetings and excursions
- seek your views or comments on the services we provide
We will not sell your information to any third party. We may provide your information to a third party for the purposes of mail fulfilment, e.g. distributing copies of Camertonia, but this would be done only with a signed agreement that the data may not be used for any other purpose.
We review our retention periods for personal information on a regular basis. We are legally required to hold some types of information to fulfil our statutory obligations (for example the collection of Gift Aid). We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity, or as long as is set out in any relevant contract you hold with us.
You can check the information that we hold about you by emailing us at membership@bacas.org.uk. If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct them promptly.
You can change your data consent preference at any time by using the consent form.
